In a former life, many years ago in the dark ages before A.D. 2010, I was a professional bass player in New York City. One of my favorite projects was a band called the McCarron Brothers. I’m still an honorary member, and perform with them whenever possible.
The McCarron Brothers are a musical group where everyone trusts each other, and everyones musical input is accepted implicitly. It’s no surprise that we feel like a group of Brothers; out of the four of us, there are two Canadians, three guys with birthdays that fall between October 19-21, two of us who had the same legendary high school band director(although at different high schools, about 1000 miles apart), and three of us are veterans of the Art Lillard Heavenly Band, a notorious New York jazz institution.
So the McCarron Brothers are a quartet of Libra Canadian grizzled jazz veterans with a penchant for breathing life into eclectic compositions and obscure covers. Yep, that pretty much sums it up I guess.
We recorded a CD in June of 2010, right before my family moved to North Carolina. That CD is mixed and ready to go, and should be available in the next few months.
